Welcome to Directions: Journal of Education StudiesDirections: Journal of Educational Studies was first published in 1978 by the Institute of Education at the University of the South Pacific (USP). It is a unique journal, providing an avenue for the publication of essays, research findings, book reviews, conference papers, best practice and critical comments by people involved in the educational sphere in the Pacific region. Many changes have taken place in the field of education in the Pacific since 1978, and these are reflected in articles by leading educators in the region. Increasingly, the voice is the voice of Pacific Islanders, as educators in the region promote a Pacific approach to education. The figurehead motif is based on a nineteenth century carving of a ship's prow from Choiseul, Solomon Islands. It signifies forward movement. If you wish to contribute an article, please look at the Guidelines for Contributors. Pacific Curriculum Network (PCN) is a biannual bulletin that the Institute of Education and the Department of Education at USP published between 1992 and 2004. It sought to develop and promote a network of institutions and individuals in the Pacific involved in curriculum development work. In 2005, the Editorial Board decided to combine PCN with Directions: Journal of Educational Studies in order to broaden the scope of Directions to include articles on best practice. Volumes 1 – 13 of PCN have been digitised. Editorial BoardThe editorial board has changed over the years as its members moved away from the region and new ones joined. The current board has the following members: Konai Helu Thaman, School of Education, University of the South Pacific; Srinivasiah Muralidhar, University of Fiji; Kabini Sanga, School of Education Studies, Victoria University of Wellington; Teweiariki Teaero, School of Education, University of the South Pacific; Narottam Bhindi, Department of Administrative, Higher and Adult Education Studies, University of New England, Armidale, Australia; France Mugler, School of Language, Arts and Media, University of the South Pacific and Francis Mangubhai, formerly of the Department of Higher Education, University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
